Is single-port surgery suitable for me?
Suitability depends on the planned operation, scan findings, previous surgery and overall health. Discuss whether this approach is appropriate for your condition; it is not suitable for every operation.
How it differs from conventional laparoscopy
Conventional laparoscopy usually uses several small incisions. Single-port surgery uses a shared access point. The incision can still leave a scar; fewer access points do not guarantee less pain or faster recovery.
Safety and alternatives
Additional ports or conversion to open surgery may be needed. Discuss bleeding, infection, injury to nearby organs, wound problems and hernia, along with the alternatives and recovery plan.
